It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and meets US military standards 810 C, D, E, F & G for durability against shocks and vibrations.

With a front profile of just 100mm x 56mm, the DP3661 packs a high-quality speaker, a five-line colour display that can handle text messages of up to 200 characters, and a small keypad with programmable buttons and a navigation pad. There are further programmable buttons on the side, which can create one-touch access to favourite functions, plus a Push-To-Talk button.

On the top of the unit, alongside a compact antenna and on/off/volume adjustment knob, there is a channel selector and a prominent Emergency Button.
